Trusting the Journey
Kassie’s coaching methodology follows The Academic Art of Horsemanship and aims to educate horse and rider towards the ultimate goal of unity. This training teaches you how to guide your horses into correct posture and bio-mechanical alignment to develop a partnership of mutual understanding of lightness and harmony. This schooling is fundamental to horse’s long term soundness in both its physiology and psychological health.
Kassie’s approach to schooling addresses all aspects of horsemanship and works in an academic way, making sure you truly understand the principles and concepts behind the schooling. Lessons are tailored to suit the horse and riders individual requests and needs and is suitable for all disciplines and levels from young unbacked horses through to performance horses.
Kassie began riding as a young child on her mother’s farm on the mid north coast of New South Wales. Kassie was a passionate animal lover from the beginning and made connections of mutual trust and respect with the horses on the farm and had a way of communicating that put the horses at ease. During Kassie’s teenage years she worked with many troubled horses and was able to develop partnerships with horses that had reputations for being highly strung and at times dangerous. This ability was noticed very quickly by her mother at a young age and encouraged her to work with challenging horses, by her mid teens Kassie was working with a variety of horses from ex race horses, performance horses through to breeding Stallions.
In her mid twenties Kassie worked as the stable manager and lead performance rider of shows such as The Horseman from Snowy River Show and El Caballo Blanco by Hercules Entertainment which toured all over Australia as well as New Zealand Performing in Entertainment Centres. This show displayed the beauty of Frisians, Arabians, Lipizzaner’s and Andalusian Stallions that performed acts at liberty, ridden quadrilles as well as in hand and ridden high schooling work.
Kassie traveled overseas and trained in Spain at a stud and riding centre mostly focusing on Doma Classica and Garrocha schooling with Lusitanos, Lipizzaner’s and Pura Raza Espanola Horses. Kassie instructed students of the riding centre on her visits and worked with horses ranging from newly backed horses through to horses training Grand Prix and high schooling work.
Kassie’s most recent and ongoing study has been with Belinda Bolsenbroek – The Art of Classical Horsemanship. Kassie is a Master Class Student and Coach and has studied the bio mechanics of both horses and riders to advance not only her own skills as a rider and trainer but to also rehabilitate horses from trauma and injury. Kassie has rehabilitated horses with both physical and psychological damage back to full health. Kassie aims to educate and teach these principals and concepts across all disciplines of equestrian sports to continually improve the horses balance, strength, suppleness, self-carriage and overall health to give the horse as well as the rider the ability to reach their full potential while training for the longevity and health of your horse.
